Season 2 of Passages (Episodes 12 to 26)

Passages renewed for the 2025 scientific expedition with new concepts

The second season of Passages continues the scientific exploration aboard the CCGS Amundsen. This season highlights polar research, the professions that make it possible, and the scientific, northern, artistic, and academic collaborations that enrich the expeditions. New this year—some episodes feature one-on-one conversations and questions that push scientists outside their comfort zones.

Episode #12 – Logistics and communications

At sea and on land, the Amundsen Science administrative team is constantly thinking through and rethinking all logistics and communications behind Amundsen expeditions. Four members of this team came together to discuss their various responsibilities before, during, and after the expedition.

Guests: Véronique Rochefort, Amélie Desmarais, Judith Bernadet and Fatma Dhifallah

Episode #18 – Fragile marine ecosystems: a conversation with David Côté

What lies beneath the cold waters of the Labrador Sea? Fisheries and Oceans Canada researcher David Côté takes us deep below the surface, where fragile ecosystems thrive in unexpected places. Discover how cameras, sensors, and underwater robots reveal the hidden life of the subarctic ocean.

Guest: David Côté

Episode #18

Episode #19 – The fascinating world of jellyfish with Eugenie Jacobsen

In this episode, marine ecologist and science communicator Eugenie Jacobsen joins us to discuss her path in Arctic research. From the fascinating world of Arctic jellyfish to the next steps in her PhD, we explore what fuels her curiosity and passion for the ocean.

Guest: Eugenie Jacobsen
